BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The price of gas is rising again after OPEC and its allies announced last week that it would cut oil production by more than 1.6 million barrels a day starting in May.

Americans are already feeling the effect at the pump, with AAA reporting that the national average for regular unleaded gas is $3.60, up 10 cents since last week.

In Massachusetts, the average is $3.35, a 7-cent bump from last week's $3.28 average.

"I just noticed that it was $2.99 last week and it surprised me that it was $3.15 today," one Bay State resident told WBZ NewsRadio Tuesday.

The pump bump is not expected to wane anytime soon. Analysts are predicting a 60-cent hike in the price of gas by Memorial Day.

"It’s coming towards Memorial Day, so every year the price goes up Memorial Day, every year the price goes down Labor Day," another resident said.

Gas prices are still down significantly from a year ago. Both the national average and the Massachusetts average at this time last year was $4.11.
