BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Bruins came up short Tuesday night trying to eliminate the Maple Leafs from the playoffs and move on to the second round.

The Bruins lost in overtime 2-1 at the TD Garden in the best-of-seven series, and now it moves on to Game 6 in Toronto.

Last night's loss breathes life back into the Leafs and brings back traumatic memories for the Bruins and their fans of last year's disastrous first round loss to the Panthers after the Bruins had a 3-1 lead in that series as they did in this one.

"They choked, I expected that," said one Bruins fan.

Despite the long faces today, the Bruins still lead the series 3-2.

"Another game to win, unfortunately not here, but if it does come back to Boston, we'll celebrate here," reasoned another fan.

A poor start to last night's game and a surprising lack of urgency and energy dogged the Bruins much of the game.

Toronto scored first but Trent Frederic tied the game in the second period.

The score stayed that way through the end of regulation.

But after just 2:26 in OT, Toronto's Mathew Knies knocked in a rebound past goalie Jeremy Swayman, who again was excellent for the Bruins.

The Bruins have another chance to eliminate the Leafs Friday night in Toronto starting at 8 o'clock.
