FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — FIFA announced the dates and locations for the 2026 World Cup Sunday, including matches to be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

The home of the New England Patriots will host five group stage matches on June 13, June 16, June 19, June 23, and June 26.

Gillette will also host a Round of 32 match on June 29 and a Quarterfinal match on July 9, FIFA said.

This will be the first time Gillette Stadium hosts a World Cup match. The old Foxboro Stadium, torn down in 2002, hosted several games in both the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The tournament kicks off on June 11, 2026 with the opening match at Estadio Azteca in Mexico.

The World Cup Final will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on July 19.

Other host venues include AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas; Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri; Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California; BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico.
