BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Members of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Mass. visited the State House during their vacation week Tuesday.

As part of GSEMA's Career Academy, the group of Girl Scouts went behind the scenes on Beacon Hill to learn about the government and get to know female legislators.

"Well we’ve had women in high positions in the government, but not that many women, so it’s kind of cool to be here when that’s happening," Girl Scout Lula told WBZ NewsRadio.

The Girl Scouts got a tour of the building, participated in a scavenger hunt, and took part in a mock legislative session in the House Chamber.

"I think it’s so cool that they’re letting us learn about government and that we’re going to be able to look up to people like Maura Healey," said 12-year-old Sydney. "But I’ve never been inside, it’s so pretty."
