GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —At only 11 years old, millions have now seen the face of Vito Giacalone thanks to a Dunkin' Super Bowl commercial.
The ad was called "DunKings 2: The Movie." Vito starred alongside some big Boston names: actors Ben and Casey Affleck and former Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
Vito recorded an audition off his mom's iPhone before getting a call to come spend nine days in Los Angeles to film the commercial. And on Sunday, his excited family gathered to watch the ad during Super Bowl LIX.
“It went dead silent, you could hear a pin drop in the room, and when I came on it was all whispers, like ‘oh my god he’s on, he’s on’,” Vito told WBZ NewsRadio. “I was kind of shocked because I was thinking they were going to cut me out.”
Vito comes from a family of fourth-generation fishermen in Gloucester. However, with the media frenzy following his first appearance, and the praise from his impressed family and school friends, Vito says he thinks acting is his future career choice.
