GLOUCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A new ranking has placed Gloucester, MA., as one of the best places to live on the East Coast.
Travel+Leisure's "10 Best Places To Live on the East Coast" ranked Gloucester as the third best town to reside in. Eleanora Tucker, a lifelong resident, knows why.
"We have this beautiful, beautiful landscape that we live in. That's not the only beauty you should see. It's the people. The people are the best. And that's why I think people come back," Tucker stated.
The town's 60 miles of coastline and proximity to Boston helped it earn its place on the list. Karen Hanson, with Engel & Völkers By the Sea, told the magazine Gloucester has a "vibrant, tight-knit, and refreshingly diverse community" with "fishermen, entrepreneurs, and artists."

From the iconic beaches and beautiful homes, which range from grand shingle-style mansions to cozy cottages, real estate experts agree the city is a vibrant and tight-knit community.
"You can stroll on the beach, you can walk and hike in areas like Ravenswood, there's plenty of places to eat, there's great food here, great history, you can't go wrong," Tucker said.
As of August 2025, the median sold home price for Gloucester was $792,500, and the median listing price is $1.1 million, according to Realtor.com.
Charleston, S.C., came in as the best place to live on the East Coast, followed by Alexandria, VA.
