BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the Powerball jackpot continues to grow, more and more people are testing their luck with the lottery.

The Powerball jackpot is now estimated at $1.04 billion if someone picks the correct numbers tonight. The cash value of the jackpot is $478.2 million before taxes.

This will be the 9th largest lottery prize of all time, but the odds of getting the correct numbers are roughly one in 292 million.

WBZ’s Jim MacKay asked Powerball players on the South Shore what they would do if they took home the grand prize.

“I would share it with my family, friends [and] relatives,” said Norwell resident Susan.

“I’d try to do something good with it,” said Cliff from Plymouth. “I’ve been involved with a couple of charitable things that I’d like to be able to do a little more for.”

“I want to travel,” said Quincy resident Naki. “I want to go to Greece.”

Monday night’s Powerball drawing will be at 11:00 P.M. EST.

WBZ's Jim MacKay (@JimMacKayOnAir) reports.
