BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Lots of rain may have been coming down, but spirits stayed up Monday in Hyde Park while golfers were raising money for an important cause.

It was the second annual Putting For Parks Golf Tournament at the George Wright Golf Course.

The event raises money to benefit free youth programs provided by Boston's Park and Recreation Department.

Tiffany Clark, the department's Recreation Resource Development Manager, said the lousy weather didn't put a damper on the event. "They still came out; they still supported the free programming in the park. it's all I can really ask for," she said.

34 teams of golfers played 18 holes with all of the proceeds supporting the free youth sports and fitness programs in the city including youth sports leagues, clinics, Summer Sports Centers, and the Mayor's Cup Tournaments featuring various sports.

A raffle was also held. "Fundraisers like this really go to the right cause and they help us keep our mission going," Clark said.
