QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Good Health Natural Foods, a longstanding retailer of natural and organic foods, vitamins, supplements, and health products in Quincy Center, will close its doors after 44 years of operation.

Good Health, located at 1630 Hancock St., will shutter on Aug. 31 because the store's landlord is selling the building.

Owner Diane Maturo first opened Good Health with her late husband Ralph in 1978 at the suggestion of her mother.

"My mother said, 'You guys are health nuts. Why don't you think about opening a natural food store,'" Maturo said.

"They've always been good to me," one customer told WBZ. "Before I'll go to the doctor's, I'll come here and tell them what my ailment is and [they] take care of the problem. It really is part of the community."

"I just want to thank all of our customers who supported us over the years, we're gonna miss you," said Maturo.

A second Good Health store on Columbia Road in Hanover will remain open.

WBZ's Chris Fama (@CFamaWBZ) reports.
