BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Monday's forecast is predicting nearly half a foot of snow to the Greater Boston area.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe Winter Weather Warning from Sunday at 1 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday. Heavy snow is expected to accumulate between four to eight inches in Boston. The heaviest snowfall is expected to happen between 6 p.m. and midnight with 2 inches of snowfall per hour.
The National Weather service is also warning difficult road travel early Monday morning.
Governor Healey issued a statement advising residents to stay vigilant while traveling on the road during the holiday weekend. Additionally, she urges residents to double check on working smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and fuel exhaust vents from ice obstructions.
Meanwhile, snow emergencies and parking bans are in effect in several cities and towns to allow snow plows to clear streets overnight:
