HAVERHILL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Businesses in Haverhill are getting a boost thanks to the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce's 8th Annual Restaurant Week.
According to Kate Cook, president of the chamber of commerce, the seven-day event is a community initiative that highlights the culture and cuisine around the city.
"A series of restaurants throughout the town join in the fun and put specials just for customers to come in and try something new or try something different," Cook stated. "A lot of different options and different restaurants."

Over a dozen participating restaurants create customized menus to introduce newbies and regulars to a variety of dishes, including Irish specialties, Texas BBQ, Indian cuisine, and more. Customers also receive a passport to document their meals for a chance to win a gift card.
"You take that passport once you've visited a number of restaurants, you just snap a picture of it and email it over to the chamber, and you're going to go into a drawing. And each of the restaurants donated gift cards, and we're going to draw 18 winners," Cook said.
The festivities end with the Tasty Awards on Aug. 25 — a nod to the chefs and their dishes.
