QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Since 2015 the nation has celebrated National Lobster Day on September 25.

Maine Senators Susan Collins and Angus King introduced the legislation that passed the senate unanimously.

National Lobster Day recognizes the cultural, economic and environmental importance of lobster, which is a key part of New England’s economy, especially in Maine.

In fact Maine is the largest lobster-producing state in the nation. In 2022, the lobster industry brought in more than $388 million to Maine.

And while no one doubt's the crustacean's culinary appeal across the world, and right here in New England, not everyone is a fan.
