Woman Struck, Killed In Harvard Square

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A woman in her 60s was struck and killed by a boom truck near the Out Of Town News kiosk in Harvard Square Tuesday morning.

That woman, who was struck around 6:53 a.m., was taken to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. She has not yet been identified.

"The preliminary investigation suggests that the decedent was struck by a boom truck while trying to cross the street, and that the decedent was not in a crosswalk," the Middlesex District Attorney's office said in a release.

No charges have been filed, though the crash is still under investigation. The truck driver did stay on the scene.

MBTA buses were rerouted as crash reconstruction teams investigated.

Cambridge Police said around noon that traffic continued to be impacted, and asked the public to avoid the area.
