CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Harvard University President Claudine Gay has announced the formation of a panel to help the school fight anti-Semitism.

Harvard received heavy criticism from groups including alumni and donors following the publication of a letter signed by dozens of student groups blaming Israel for Hamas attacks that killed civilians.

Harvard’s initial response to the letter did not condemn the statement.

But following continued criticism about what some viewed as a ‘tepid’ response, Harvard did issue another one, this time condemning the letter saying it did not represent Harvard.

Gay said for too long Harvard has done too little to confront anti-Semitism.

The panel will be make up of faculty, staff, students and Jewish leaders.
