Harvard Hasty Pudding Parade Honors Elizabeth Banks

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Actress, producer, and director Elizabeth Banks led a parade through Harvard Square Friday afternoon as the 2020 Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year.

The event, held by Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatrics, was followed by a "celebratory roast" of Banks, who is the 70th woman to receive the group's Pudding Pot award.

Banks, a Massachusetts native, is perhaps best known for her roles in Pitch Perfect and The Hunger Games films. Her series Shrill, starring Aidy Bryant, premiered its second season this month.

“We’re very excited to honor Elizabeth Banks as our 70th Woman of the Year because of her wonderful acting career and impact in Hollywood," Hasty Pudding co-producer Samantha Meade said on the group's site.

“Elizabeth is a role model to all of the young women in the Theatricals, especially in a year with a female writer, female producers, and a majority female cast – we all cannot wait to celebrate and meet her!” co-producer Natalie Needle added.

Last year's Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year was Bryce Dallas Howard.
