BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Washington Redskins have fired head coach Jay Gruden, ESPN's Dan Graziano first reported.
The Gruden-led Redskins lost to the Patriots 33-7 on Sunday afternoon, and sit at a 0-5 for the season.
"The Redskins move on from coach Jay Gruden, who by the end was likely waiting for this to happen and is obviously not surprised," reports NFL insider Ian Rappaport. "A lost season in Washington, but the early move gives them a chance to start their search in earnest."
The Redskins will hope to stop the bleeding next Sunday against the Dolphins, while the Patriots take on the Giants Thursday night.
