STONEHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A reward is being offered to find a lost Teddy Bear that has deep sentimental value to a Stoneham mother and daughter.

The beloved stuffed animal is believed to have been misplaced last month while the family was on their way home from a trip to the White Mountains

Abby Shaw said the bear was originally gifted to her as a child by a World War II veteran she met at a VA hospital, where her mom worked as a nurse.

The veteran, Buzzy, had dementia, and the two formed a special bond.

"I spent all my summers and every day after school with him," she said. "He meant a lot to me."

Before passing away, Buzzy gave Abby the Teddy Bear, and she in turn gave it to her daughter, Aubrey, who is now seven years old.

"She got attached to the bear herself, and reluctantly, I passed him on. She sleeps with him every night."

Shaw thinks the bear was left behind at one of two stops they made returning home from New Hampshire: the Warren Fish Hatchery or the Rockingham Mall Food Court's parking lot.

Shaw said a reward of $200 is being offered for Teddy's return.

She also said she will buy whoever finds their missing bear a new one.
