BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The majority of the state remains under a Heat Advisory Tuesday, with the worst heat expected to come later in the afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued the Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also declared a Heat Advisory for the city through Wednesday.
Temperatures in Boston are expected to reach 98 degrees on Tuesday, according to the AccuWeather Forecast. The humidity will make it feel like 100 to 105 degrees across Massachusetts, according to the NWS.
To prevent heat illness, the NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air conditioning, limiting strenuous activity outdoors and wearing light-weight clothing.
Wu is encouraging Boston residents to take advantage of the city’s pools and splash pads.
“As we experience another round of hot weather, our top priority is ensuring that residents and families, especially children and seniors, have the resources they need to stay cool, healthy and safe,” Wu said in a statement.
Residents can find a splash pad or pool near them at Boston.gov/pools.
The city said Boston Centers for Youth & Families centers are also available through Wednesday during their normal operating hours for people to cool off, and so are Boston Public Library locations
Wednesday is expected to be a little cooler, but still hot and humid with highs in the 90s, according to the AccuWeather Forecast. A major cool down is forecasted to wrap up the week, with highs in the 70s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
