BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Surf Advisory from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. along the Massachusetts coastline on Wednesday.
The advisory is a result of Hurricane Humberto and Hurricane Imelda churning up the waters in the Atlantic Ocean, even though neither are expected to make landfall in the U.S. Similar advisories and warnings are in place from Maine all the way to Florida.
The NWS has forecasted waves reaching as high as 12 feet in the surf zone. Officials are encouraging everyone, especially inexperienced swimmers, to stay out of the water if possible.
The NWS is expected to issue more advisories for the East Coast of the U.S. over the next several days, while the two hurricanes dissipate.
