High Temps Could Break Boston Records This Week

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Right on the heels of a chilly few days, Boston is set for a taste of summer. Temperatures are set to soar into the 80's around the city, and could break records by the end of the week.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Hayden Frank tells WBZ NewsRadio that the most likely day for broken records this week is Friday. The daily record high for April 14 is 81 degrees, set all the way back in 1945.

With temperatures expected in the mid to high 80's in Greater Boston on Friday, that record could get shattered. One complicating factor is the sea breeze, which drifts in from the water this time of year. Frank says that because temperatures in the city are officially measured at Logan Airport, the breeze could bring temps down just enough to miss a record.

It could still be unseasonably warm just a few miles west in places like the Back Bay.
