BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Strong winds are being blamed for shattering a large glass window in Downtown Crossing on Wednesday.

A storm worked its way through the Commonwealth on Wednesday, causing thousands of power outages and wind damage across the state. In Boston, a huge window came crashing down right in front of the HomeGoods at 350 Washington St.

WBZ NewsRadio’s James Rojas spoke with residents in the area, who said they will be more of aware of their surroundings the next time the wind picks up.

“I mean honestly, I’m a little shocked that that shattered. I wouldn’t expect that to shatter from the wind,” said one resident.

“It’s good to look out for,” said another resident.

The window has been boarded up, but one resident said heavy winds are always a concern.

“It happens a lot when you have a bunch of high risers around. It becomes a wind whipping alley,” said the resident.
