BEVERLY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A historic place in Beverly, Mass. has reopened after nearly a year of renovations.

Historic Beverly’s Cabot House has been around for 120 years, giving residents a chance to learn and share pieces of history about the town. Director Sue Goganian said they have collected a lot over those years.

“[We have] both revolutionary history and more contemporary history. We have a lot of information on immigration to Beverly, industry, women’s history [and] technology,” said Goganian.

They closed the building last year to install a new HVAC system to make temperatures in the building more comfortable.

“People who have been here before know it was very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter and it wasn’t conducive to programing and it also wasn’t a place [where] the staff wanted to be,” said Goganian.

Now that the building has been reopened, Goganian hopes residents will return to the building to tell stories.

“Communities need a place and a way to share their stories with each other and so what we hope will happen is that people will come here once again to share stories just as they have been for the last 120 years,” said Goganian.
