BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Before indulging in some turkey on Thanksgiving, high school football teams across the state have to settle the score with their rivals.

There are almost 100 high school football games kicking off on Thursday morning, with tradition, history and bragging rights up for grabs. Each team will play against their biggest rival, hoping to leave their mark on some of the sport's most historic matchups and their rivals across the line of scrimmage.

Although most of the numbers are approximations due to occasional cancelations throughout history, some of these rivalry games have more than 100 years of bad blood.

Here are some of this year’s historic matchups:

Needham High School vs. Wellesley High School: Oldest Public School Football Rivalry (1882)

Boston Latin School vs. English High School: Longest Continuous Rivalry (1887)

Newburyport High School vs. Amesbury High School: 100th Year

Whitman-Hanson High School vs. Abington High School: 110th Meeting

Nobles and Greenough School vs. Milton Academy: Since 1886

Leominster High School vs. Fitchburg High School: About 129 Years
