HOLBROOK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It was something of a Santa-in-reverse situation in Holbrook on Thursday, where police say they caught three teenagers who crashed a stolen car with ill-gotten packages in the trunk.
The incident started at about 10:00 AM when police got a call for a car crash on South Franklin Street. When they got on scene, Holbrook Police found a driverless Toyota Camry that had smashed into the brick wall of a house under construction.
After briefly searching the area, police said they found two underage suspects, a 16-year-old from Randolph and a 17-year-old from Dedham close to an apartment Complex on Longmeadow Drive. Neither were named because of their age. A look through the woods nearby turned up a third suspect, 18-year-old Romulald Bernard.
Police said the car involved in the crash was allegedly the same one that had sped away from a traffic stop earlier that day, when the officer doing the stop discovered it had been reported stolen in Cambridge. Officers said they found several stolen packages in the trunk of the car, and Holbrook Police were working to get them to their intended owners. There were no injuries.
All three teenagers are being charged with Receiving Stolen Property, and Bernard is also being charged with Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign, Failure to Stop for Police, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and other traffic violations.
