ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —Parents are preparing for what's starting to look like an expensive Christmas.
According to the most recent data from the Toy Association, toy prices are already up 4% this year, and they expect even higher prices in the coming weeks.
For locals like Karen, a change of price means a change of strategy for the grandkids' gifts.
"It costs a little bit more, but I think I'm actually going to go to some gift certificates."

Changing tariff policies throughout the year are being blamed for fewer gift options stocking the shelves and a surge in pricing. Some shoppers say it's harder to stick to the budget this year.
"I think everything's gone up, clothing, toys. Definitely the toys for the children have gone up," one shopper said.
However, not everyone is feeling the pain when they check their receipt.
"Not really. I've been getting a lot of good deals. Good prices," said Sandy from Marshfield.
The National Retail Federation expects holiday spending to surpass $1 trillion for the first time ever this year.
