HOLYOKE, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Holyoke are searching for a suspect after one of their police cruisers was shot at while refueling.

The cruiser was parked at the city gas pumps across from Holyoke Fire Headquarters — about four blocks from the police station — at about 9:40 PM on Friday, when police say someone fired a bullet into its windshield.

The bullet hit the windshield at chest level, but missed the officer behind the wheel, who was unharmed.

The officer radioed for reinforcements, who arrived and combed the scene for evidence. Police said the bullet came from adjacent High Street. No arrests have been made yet, but Mass. State Police are helping in the investigation.
