Honey Dew Donuts In Brockton Upcharges For Ice-less Coffee

BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Honey Dew Donuts on Pleasant Street in Brockton is charging an extra 75 cents if patrons order their iced coffee without ice—and customers tell WBZ NewsRadio they think the practice is unfair.

"I don't think that's right...if you're asking for an iced coffee with no ice, you shouldn't be getting charged more for something you're not getting," a local in Brockton told WBZ NewsRadio's Suzanne Sausville.

Another said, "That's stupid."

Others weren't concerned.

"But what am I going to do about it? I don't worry about 75 cents," Daniel Brady said.

Shop owner Leena Matta said the upcharge is not corporate policy, but said it is suggested.

"A lot of shops do do it, they just don't let you know," Matta said. "My previous boss used to charge a dollar for no ice in New Bedford."

A nearby Dunkin Donuts and Marylou's Coffee were asked if they charged for the request—both said no, while the employees at Westgate Mall Starbucks did not say.
