HOPKINTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — This year, two different types of marathons are coming to Hopkinton! In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the Boston Marathon starting in Hopkinton, the Hopkinton Public Library is announcing their own type of marathon... in reading form! The program begins on Feb. 18 and signups begin today.

The program encourages participants to read four days a week for four weeks. After each week of reading is completed, a librarian will give a participant five tickets to be entered into a prize basket of their choice. The Hopkinton Public Library will also provide a reading log for readers to track the books read, which can be picked up before or shortly after the start date of the challenge.

“Just like marathon runners, good readers consistently practice and challenge themselves,” said Hopkinton Library Director Nanci Hill. “I hope Hopkinton brings its all-star competition!”

The schedule appears below:

WEEK 1: Feb. 18-24

WEEK 2: Feb. 25 to March 2

WEEK 3: March 3-9

WEEK 4: March 10-16

To be eligible for prizes, reading logs must be presented to the library by Saturday, March 23 and the prize winners will be drawn on March 25.
