BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — You might think of house calls as something that is more for sick people or animals. But in South Boston, if your plant is unwell, there is a plant doctor who will come right to your doorstep.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to Julio Cesar Roman, the owner of Micro Plant Studio. He told us that many of his plant house calls come down to a simple matter of poor placement of plants, like not putting your plant on a heater.

“Making sure that the plant doesn’t get burned and roasted, like chicken,” he said.

Julio will also meet with his clients over telehealth calls, which is something he started doing during the pandemic. He claimed that his in-person home visits are unique to the Boston area.

“People were buying plants [for no other reason than] out of the fact that they were in style and in fashion, and then they didn’t know what to do with them,” he said.

Julio’s best advice for aspiring plant owners is to pick a plant that suits your lifestyle. If you are a frequent traveler, he advised that it is best to pick a plant that doesn’t require a lot of regular maintenance if you want to keep the plant alive and well.

Julio also added that many times, the problems that plant owners will come to him with will have quick and easy fixes like giving the plant more sunlight.
