HULL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you're looking for something new to hang on your wall, an artist on the South Shore has turned "beach trash" into an "artistic treasure."

For years, Jackie Ranney, an artist in Hull, has made it a regular practice to clear trash off the beaches. She does this all year round.

"In the middle of winter, I'll be hauling trash bags off the beach from all the storms," said Ranney.

However, a couple years ago, she had what she calls a "lightbulb moment." She now creates art out of these varied beach accumulations.

Her goal is not only making something nice to look at but make people aware of all the trash that is on the beach.

"I'm hoping that I can change a few people's minds and inspire a few people who otherwise wouldn't have been aware," said Ranney.
