Hull Remembers Fallen Firefighter With Memorial Plaque

Hull, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Every second Sunday in June firefighters across the country remember those who've been killed in the line of duty. The town of Hull honored their first fallen firefighter with a memorial plaque over the weekend.

Firefighter John Clasby was struck by a stray bullet while fighting a fire 20 years ago. The shot left him paralyzed from the waist down. He died from his injuries in 2008.

“We now know there’s a spot that, on this specific day, that we can go. And make sure that John knows we’ve got the rest of his watch. We’re looking over things, him, and his family,” Chief Chris Russo said.

John Clasby Square has been set up near where the fire occurred.
