BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Holiday magic officially arrived at Christopher Columbus Park in the North End.
The 23rd annual Trellis Lighting illuminated the arch canopy with 50,000 blue lights on Monday.
Steve Kruszkowski, program manager at Boston’s Parks and Recreation Department, told WBZ NewsRadio said organizing this Christmas display was especially special for him.
“I got engaged to my wife under this very trellis,” he said.
Mayor Michelle Wu turned on the switch and welcomed the holiday spirit to the community near the waterfront.
The department will host a variety of other holiday celebrations throughout the season. On Dec. 1, the newly remodeled Copley Square will be holding its first Christmas tree lighting ceremony since 2022.
Kruszkowski added that downtown Boston is a great place to get into the holiday spirit.
“It’s a wonderful place to come out and enjoy winter in Boston,” he said.
