BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of book lovers will gather at Copley Square in Downtown Boston for the 16th annual Boston Book Festival on Saturday.

Hundreds of readers and authors are expected to attend “a world class day of literary programming,” Executive Director Jenny Dworkin told WBZ NewsRadio.

More than 60 sessions of panels, readings, discussions and more are planned across all genres. Dworkin said the event has only been getting bigger and more popular with something for everyone across all ages.

Special guest Malcolm Gladwell, journalist and co-founder of Pushkin Industries, kick start the event, speaking on his new book “The Revenge of the Tipping Point.”

“We are thrilled to host him for what we know is going to be a great conversation,” Dworkin said.

MIT Economics Professor Daron Acemoglu, co-winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in economics, will also be joining a panel to discuss how technology has shaped human history.

Other keynote speakers include Pulitzer Prize Winner Sebastian Smee and Louise Erdrich, and New York Times bestselling author Aiden Thomas.

Local book sellers will be set up right outside the Boston Public Library. “It makes for an exciting day that you feel as if it’s unique to Boston,” Dworkin said.

The Boston Book Festival is free and runs on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
