BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A large crowd gathered in Boston on Sunday for a pro-Ukraine rally held on the eve of the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Hundreds of people, many displaying the Ukrainian national colors of blue and yellow, marched from Copley Square to Boston Common demonstrating their support for Ukraine during Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II.

Among their chants, "Stand with Ukraine!"

Sunday's rally came amidst a U.S. policy shift with President Donald Trump beginning peace negotiations with Russia without Ukraine at the table.

The president has criticized Ukraine and President Zelensky's leadership during the war, including President Trump's suggestion that Ukraine started the war.

Massachusetts Congressman Jake Auchincloss was among the speakers at the rally criticizing President Trump for supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin while 'undercutting' Ukraine. "Donald Trump is trying to sell out Ukraine," Auchincloss said. "This man sends his junior varsity team of negotiators to Europe to spend a week lecturing our allies and acceding leverage to the Kremlin."

Meanwhile on Monday, the third anniversary of the start of the war, more than a dozen Western leaders took part in events held in Ukraine.

Countries including Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Germany all pledged to continue supporting Ukraine with military aid.
