2020 Hurricane Season Is On A Record Pace

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is off to an active start.

Fay marked the sixth named storm of the season and sets this year's season on a record pace. Chris Besse works with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.

"We are going into the peak of hurricane season, we certainly are at risk," Besse said.

Where someone lives can heighten the risk they face against storms, and Besse says everyone should pack emergency kits that include masks and hand sanitizer.

"For people that are along the coastal area, flooding is the biggest risk," Besse said. "You look at the winds and the heavy rainfall, even far away from the coast, pretty extensive damage can happen."
