BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Institute for Contemporary Arts Watershed (ICA) in East Boston opened its doors to local artists.
Even though the ICA is usually closed, 40 artists got the chance to showcase their work in a first-of-its-kind event called “Harboring Creativity.” Former City Councilor Diane Modica helped to organize the event.
“We knew there were people in East Boston beyond this sort of core group that operated here, but this really shows how many people are living and working here in East Boston,” said Modica.
Modica had nothing but praise for the ICA, which allowed the use of this unique space.
“They came to East Boston right before COVID and they have been nothing but total community partners ever since. As far as this event is concerned, they have gone above and beyond,” said Modica.
Every artist featured in the exhibit either lives, works, or creates in East Boston. June Krinsky-Rudder was one of the artists putting work on display.
“Here we are inside a world-renowned institution showing our art. I don’t even know that I have the words to express how important that is for artists who sometimes don’t even get out of their own houses if they work at home,” said Krinsky-Rudder.
