BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An overwhelming majority of U.S. drivers are not interested in self-driving cars.
According to a recent AAA survey, only 13 percent of respondents said they would feel comfortable riding in an autonomous vehicle (AV). On the flip side, roughly 60 percent of respondents said they would be afraid if they rode in an AV.

WBZ NewsRadio’s Chris Fama asked Bostonians if they would feel safe riding in an AV. Most said they don’t want to see them on the road, let alone ride in one.
“I’d be petrified to see one on the road. I’ve not yet seen one and I do a lot of driving. However, once I see it, I’m staying clear away,” said one woman.
“No, I don’t trust it. Driverless cars? No,” said one man.
“I would not feel safe. How quickly can a [self-driving] car react to a problem if there was a pedestrian in the street or if there was an impending crash?” said another woman.
