FALL RIVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Route 24 in Fall River was forced to temporarily shut down Thursday morning due to the remnants of Post-Tropical Cyclone Ida.
Ida pummeled the South Coast with heavy rains, wind, and flooding, which made Route 24 impassable.
Authorities closed both sides of the highway from Airport Road to Innovation Road as they worked to find and clear storm drains.
Drivers were stuck in traffic for hours, with some exiting their vehicles out of sheer frustration.
Route 24 has since reopened.
