NATICK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Immersive Gamebox, the new age arcade with 22 locations worldwide, opened its first Massachusetts location at the Natick Mall last Friday.
2-6 people can buy tickets and enter a "gamebox," an interactive room with games projected on the walls, touch screens, and surround sound. Players wear special visors that track their motion while they play.
Games available to play include "Squid Game," "Paw Patrol," "Shawn the Sheep: Championsheeps," "Angry Birds," "Ticket to Mars," "Psychedelic Mansion," and more. Each game lasts 30 to 60 minutes and has its own group recommendations, such as "first-timers," "date night," "work social," and "families with kids under 12."
"It’s the best thing ever because it’s just a different way to bring people together, bring people back into the mall again," general manager Eric Collins told WBZ NewsRadio Thursday.
Immersive Gamebox is not the only Natick Mall tenant offering fun and games. Challenge room arcade Level99 and entertainment restaurant Dave & Buster's are close by, though Collins believes these places can co-exist because there are so many people who want to get their game on.
"Malls were starting to die on us a little bit, but now we have all this entertainment going on, so it makes it much easier," Cullens said. "Just come here and have fun."
According to Immersive Gamebox's website, the company plans on opening multiple new locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, and Canada later this year and in 2024.
