ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Andover resident shoppers that spend money at local businesses may net themselves some extra cash to use for the holidays.

The Town of Andover listed participating town businesses where customers who spend at least $50 between December 10 and 22 will receive a "golden ticket" that enters them into a drawing to win one of six prizes. Town officials said that prizes include four $2,000 gift cards, an Andover Shop Basket valued at $1,000, and an Andover Dine Basket valued at $1,000.

Details for Andover's "Golden Ticket Shop and Dine" program can be found on the town's website.

The drawing for the winning ticket will be live streamed on Wednesday, December 23 at noon on the "Downtown Andover" Instagram account.

Andover Director of Business, Arts, and Culture Ann Ormond said that the funds for the sweepstakes came from the Municipal Discretionary Fund from Columbia Gas.

"As a result of the gas crisis we were given discretionary funds to use to spur economic and business development in the downtown, primarily those that were affected by the gas crisis," said Ormond.

The 2018 Columbia Gas explosions killed one man, destroyed dozens of homes, and left thousands without heat for months.
