SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A local musician was in for the surprise of a lifetime after an indie rock band asked to use his porch for a live performance this weekend ahead of the annual Somerville Porchfest.
When Dave Rothfarb got the call from Boston-based “Guster," he initially thought it was a prank when they asked to perform on his front steps for Saturday's event.
“Yeah, it’s super exciting! They even asked me, 'Do you mind if Guster uses your equipment?' and I’m like 'Please! Use whatever you want!'” Rothfarb said.
The band asked to use Rothfarb's porch because he lives down the street from the house where the band lived in their college years. They were students at Tufts University.
“I was not even considering the logistics or anything like that I was like, 'yeah, I’d love Guster to come perform on my porch!'” Rothfarb added.
Rothfarb's band “The Mixtape Misfits” will also open for Guster on the porch.
Guster will play on Saturday from 3:30-4 p.m. at 12 Aberdeen Road in Somerville, and the Mixtape Misfits will start at 2 p.m.
