Infant Boy Dies After Being Struck By Truck Driver In Chelsea

CHELSEA, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) – A 22-month boy has died after a delivery truck driver struck him and his parents on Bellingham Street in Chelsea around noontime today.

Chelsea Police Chief Brain Kyes said the child was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital following the hit and remained in critical conduction from severe head trauma, but has since succumbed to his injuries.

“Our deepest condolences to the family,” Kyes said. “Absolutely heartbreaking.”

The boy’s parents were also taken to the hospital but their conditions are unknown at this time.

Police say the driver that struck the child remained on the scene at the time of the incident.

Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident to find out how it occurred.
