MARLBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — 21-year-old Hayden Ginnetti returned to his home in Marlboro this week after having two surgeries at Massachusetts General Hospital and spending two months at Spaulding Rehab recovering from a spinal cord injury he received while diving into waters off a Nantucket beach back in August.

The UMass Amherst student spoke with WBZ-TV about his recovery progress, "I've started to get some contractions in my core and my obliques, which I didn't initially, which is obviously a good sign," Ginnetti said.

Friends, family, and the Marlboro community rallied behind Ginnetti, a crowdfunding page was set up and raised more than $98,000 at the time of posting. Another fundraiser was held for Ginnetti at The School Yard in West Boylston.

"It's been extremely helpful having my family, my friends, and the community all rally behind me. It has given me the motivation to keep going," Ginnetti said.
