BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has announced a $21 million investment to support the mental and behavioral health of young people in the city of Boston.

Boston is using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to ensure its students are getting the mental health services they need.

Boston's Superintendent of Schools Mary Skipper said the past few years have been very difficult for a lot of public school students. "I don't think it's any secret that post-pandemic, our young people are struggling," she said.

Mayor Wu said she expects some 50,000 students to benefit from the funding. "This is going to be a model for the rest of the country and certainly will make a difference for generations to come."
