HANOVER, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Is it too early to put away the shovel?
The first day of spring is on March 20, and Hanover residents seem to be happy to finally put their shovels and snow gear away and move into the warmer season.
“I hate the winter,” one individual said.
“I got a little body, not a lot of body heat,” another woman said.
“I don’t like the cold,” yet another person said.
One man seemed more in the middle on the matter, but focused on those few days in the winter that hit hard.
“It’s not the cold, it’s the wind that gets you,” he said. “We’re used to a couple days a year that are just absolutely intolerable.”

Dan from Hanover leaned the complete opposite direction compared to these other folks, as he not only loves the winter but hopes it snows again before he puts away the shovels and such.
“I actually love snow,” Dan said. “I’ve always been kind of a country guy, so I’ve always been out around playing in the snow as much as possible, so it’s always been more fun for me.”
Dan may be in luck, as late March-early April snow storms are possible, such as the 1997 April Fool’s Day blizzard and last year’s nor’easter on April 4.
One Reddit user powsandwich humorously pointed out this potential on the r/boston subreddit.
“I know what you’re thinking. We’re all thinking it. For the love of God, don’t do it,” powsandwich said. “Do NOT put your shovels and sleds away. Keep your salt within hands’ reach. This is a spring of deception.”
WBZ NewsRadio’s own Jim Mackay leans more towards the opinions of the spring lovers, in hopes that the weather moves forward to warmer temperatures.
