HOLLAND, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) Coastal communities in the Bay State are reveling in the beauty of Hurricane Erin.

"It's very nice out here. It's very calming. Almost like it just washes everything away," one local said.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey issued a warning on Wednesday about the dangerous rip currently off the coast because of the hurricane. However, even with the danger, residents can't overlook the beauty of Mother Nature.

"To see the ocean at its best like this, it's just pretty incredible. And people have to respect it," another resident stated.

Beauty aside, the storm has impacted residents across the state. Hy-Line Cruises canceled several scheduled ferry trips to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard because of the weather conditions. Multiple DCR beaches have also been closed due to the rough seas, causing a potential threat to swimmers.

A High Surf Advisory from the National Weather Service will remain in effect for parts of the state until Saturday morning. Locals say they will continue to marvel at the beauty of the storm until then.

"It's captivating. No matter how crazy it is," remarked one local.
