BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Former Celtics center Scot Pollard has found a donor for his heart transplant surgery, his wife announced on social media Friday.

"It's go time" after the 6 feet 11 inch Pollard received "the most amazing gift of life" from a donor, Dawn Pollard wrote on the social media platform X.

That post came alongside photos of her shaving Pollard's hair and beard.

His need for the procedure likely stems from a virus he caught in 2021 that triggered a genetic condition, The Associated Press reported.

Pollard, 49, played his final NBA season for the Celtics in their 2008 championship season. He played for five teams across his 11-year NBA career.

In 2016, he appeared as a contestant on the reality television series, "Survivor."
