BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Crowds of boxing fans gathered at the Banners Kitchen and Tap bar in Boston Friday night to watch the boxing match between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and internet influencer-turned professional boxer Jake Paul.
The restaurant showed the fight on the so-called ‘dream screen,’ hundreds of panels making a 40-foot TV screen, according to General Manager Nick Moniz.
“There’s definitely a market for these other types of sports,” he told WBZ NewsRadio.
Tyson, 58, returned to the boxing ring after nearly two decades to take on 27-year-old Paul on Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
The event was available to stream on Netflix for account holders. The streaming service encountered technical difficulties moments before the match began. The server eventually went down for millions of users trying to tune in.
However, patrons at Banners were able to watch the live event in 4k and make predictions with fellow viewers.
“I think it’s going to be at least somewhat of a slope fest,” one spectator said ahead of the match.
After eight intense rounds, Paul took home the victory in a unanimous decision.
