BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Another look-alike contest took over Boston Common on Sunday, this time for Massachusetts legend President John F. Kennedy.
About 100 people showed up to watch four young doppelgangers of the 35th U.S president go head to head.
Competitor John Michael Gross really knew his stuff, memorizing bits of Kennedy’s speech to West Berlin, Germany in 1963. Gross also mastered Kennedy’s accent and cadence, responding in a way the former president might have.
When asked how he feels about the competition, Gross said “I think the chances are good, but I always welcome good and fierce competition.”
Look-alike contests have been sweeping the country, recently brought to life by a mega-popular Timothee Chalamet look-alike contest in Manhattan in October.
“It’s obviously some kind of subconscious cultural moment … I can't put my finger on it,” said another competitor at the Kennedy contest.
And just a couple of weeks ago, a Tom Holland look-alike contest also graced the Common.
People don't seem to be tired of the trend.
“I think it's just picking up if anything,” said another spectator at the Kennedy contest.
Gross ended up soaring past the competition and taking the prize on Sunday, clearly showing a deep respect and admiration for the former president.
