BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The 129th Boston Marathon champion in the Men’s Elite Division etches his name in the history books.

Kenya’s John Korir egged on the roaring crowd on Boylston Street as he came down the final stretch, finishing the marathon in 2:04:45. Despite falling shortly after the race began, he was able to post the second-fastest time in Boston Marathon history.

John’s older brother, Wesley Korir, won the race back in 2012 and they are now the first pair of brothers to win the Boston Marathon. John gets to take home the bragging rights, beating out the 2:12:40 Wesley posted in 2012.

It was a photo finish for second place, but Tanzania’s Alphonce Felix Simbu was able to cross just before Kenya’s CyBrian Kotut. Conner Mantz posted the best time out of the Americans with 2:05:08, securing fourth place.
